Dorytomus taeniatus

I was just washing the pots when I noticed a weevil walking up the outside of the kitchen window, it instantly looked interesting with a long proboscis and rounded thorax. It was worth checking as it was Dorytomus taeniatus which is a new species for me. This is another range expander spreading north, although is well recorded in this area. This species is closely associated with willows where its larvae develops inside the catkins, after the catkin drops to the ground development continues and then the larvae pupates on the ground.
